Hi Chris, well that's the problem right - as you say and in the article is - I quote "We automatically sync and consolidate data across devices, but setting a Primary Training Device helps ensure you receive…
Your training results are likely solely going to be your Epix setup as Primary and your Edge 530 as secondary. Over the last several years, an outdoor watch that provided the training and the Edge series have been more or less incompatible. Issues should now be less common but your Primary Training Device remains the main source for Training and Performance stats.
Please refer to this Support Center article:

If you initially spoke with our Outdoor Wearables team, or vice versa, spoke with our Edge Cycling team, reaching back out to speak to the other team might be useful too.

Hi Chris, well that's the problem right - as you say and in the article is - I quote "We automatically sync and consolidate data across devices, but setting a Primary Training Device helps ensure you receive optimized guidance and accurate data."
The Epix/Connect is not taking the Edge activity into account AT ALL. 0 effect. How is that "consolidating and syncing data across devices?
I did set up as per the article, not sure what am I doing wrong (if anything) but it just doesn't work as stated.
will test it, thanks. But still - that should be fixable ...
Hi Chris, today I tried again. Synced Edge + Epix twice before starting the activity on the Edge. Recorded activity. Saved & uploaded. Synced Edge, Synced Epix. No impact on Training load.
This time I recorded the same ride with Epix too but have not stopped the activity (just pause) just to see the Edge activity had no impact. As soon as I uploaded Epix recorded ride, TL was recalculated.
PS I also tried what VitekV suggested, starting new activity on the Edge, stop and discard. Still nothing.
What should I try next? Can I fw logs for analysis or something?
Thanks
Your Epix 2 being your Primary Preferred Training Device is successfully updating your Training Load. On your watch side of things, it sounds like it is working properly.
- Garmin Connect: Setting Your Primary Training Device
Based on what you have provided and your test results, it's your Edge 530 side not updating. You can try searching and posting in the Sports & Fitness > Cycling forums to learn more too.
will try, but honestly - I am kinda giving up. it's too many problems to deal with considering this is same "universe" of devices.
Hi, maybe not exactly the riht topic, but: is Load focus calcualated exclusively from "recorded activities" or does it take metrics also from e.g. heart rate readings / HRV / steps etc from "normal watch use" during the day? Thanks
Recorded activities only.
Thanks!
What about the latest "major Physio TrueUp overhaul"? DCR mentioned maybe 6 mo. ago: "Garmin appears to have quietly added/started HRV Status sync via Physio TrueUp in the background" - (ok, also, I'm not sure HRV affeccts load focus in any way...).
