Ski Lap Count

Today I tried to use my Epix to track a ski activity. I cannot ski and I'm learning on a very short and easy track (around 150 meters) with a lift on one side. Epix tracked only the last lap of the activity: basically, every time the ski lift brought me again on the top of the track, lap count reset to 0 and all statistics (and gps track) related to the previous lap disappeared. If I turn off autolap and I manually use the lap button, the session is recorded in the right way but it's a pain because I need to stop the activity to avoid recording the lifting.

It seems an intentional behaviour but I cannot explain the reason for that. Any idea?

it could be because the track was too short or too flat
in this case just use the run mode or whatever and change the activity type later

In the ski activity there is no auto-pause setting. There is only autolap which seems to act as auto-pause (the the link you posted doesn't apply to the EPIX 2).

My personal explanation to this behaviour was that the watch tries to ignore short descents that you may encounter when you move around near a cabin before starting the ski track. This morning I changed my mind: the watch was able to identify 2 sequential runs but when I took the ski lift again (for the 3rd sequential run), it reset to 0 and removed both the previous runs. I was expecting to have just run number 2 removed. Instead it scratched everything.

I know that my case is borderline but it's still disappointing that I cannot track my runs. This morning, after a couple of tests, I gave up completely: it was too messy to deal with buttons, gloves, ski suit, etc...

its called auto-run on the Epix - that needs to be turned on.

If not working its possible due to runs being too short, then changing lap to manual may be best option, or using resume.

I confirm the runs were too short. Today I tried more difficult, longer runs and it worked like a charm.

What's the distance and elevation you've tried to record?

Around 50 meters of distance and 5-7m of elevation :D

Thanks. However, the slope I'm visiting has bigger values (80m elevation, 400m distance), I'm experiencing the same issue. Only the last 12 rides had been recorded.

Uhm. this is not what I'm experiencing. Give a look at this activity https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/10450254946. I performed the first 8 laps on a really simple slope. Around ~50m elevation and 450m distance and it worked.

Hmm so now I'm a little bit confused because it seems to be working on your device under the same conditions. My aim is to record activity as the Slopes app does: the number of runs, skiing time, traveling uphill time, standing time, etc.

Maybe I have bad settings. IDK.
