Hi there, wonder if i am the only one in this situation. Sapphire glass is meant to be rated 9 on hardness scale, so unless switzerland is covered in diamond dust i don’t understand how this is possible. In the pics you can see the biggest 2, else there are few more finer, not that easy to photograph.
even more amazing was the Garmin support: “pls send us proof, is not possible a sapphire glass to be scratched“ “here you go, video and pics” “SG is harder to scratch but not impossible, the scratches are cosmetical and not covered by the warranty”
i did have sapphire glass since Fenix 3, and moved upwards whenever a new version came out, also as the battery after one year starts to be a joke, but i never seen a scratch on any of the previous models
i contacted first garmin support when the battery was lasting few hours due to that firmware they released to report the battery, scratches and that the altimeter despite being calibrated is constantly off by 200-300m.
In the end the answer to all enquiries was “this is normal and not covered by warranty”.
one thing i used to like about the Garmin service was the quality of the service, i changed few fenix’es due to battery life being about half of the advertised one, after about 1-1.5yrs of use (ultraendurance rides), i hope this is not the service expected in the future.
