V10.43 Crashing and Restarting

My Epic (Gen 2) and Enduro 2 both constantly crashes and restarts since they were updated to V10.43.

Sometimes a few times a day, sometimes a few times during workouts.  It is very frustrating and HR data are all lost when it crashes.  On Garmin Connect I can clearly see many gaps in my daily HR data because of this.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  I'm sure this can't be an isolated incident since this is happening to both of my watches.

  • My Epix has never crashed on 10.43. However, I keep it plain- no CIQ fields, standard watch face, etc. Do you use anything non-standard?

  • I do use a CIQ face and battery graph app.  However the EPIX Gen 2 I just started using last week and it was upgraded to v10.43 and crashing before I installed the CIQ face and app.  The only thing non standard was I didn't use the default face but a different pre-installed face.

  • Hi,

Same problem V10.43 on my Epix 2 , sometimes when try to get the built-in tides data,  it will restarting automatically.

Hope that this issue restarting problem will fix soon.

    Thanks

  • I now am using the default face the EPIX 2 was shipped with, with the exception of changing the data fields to battery, HR, and steps.  It appears to crash less but it still crashes and restarts maybe once every one or two days.

For those who says their watches never crash after v10.43, how can you tell it never crashes?  It sometimes happens when you are not looking at the watch and the restart is really fast.  A tell tale sign is to look at your HR glance and look at historical data, on the EPIX 2 you can swipe back and look at your HR history.  If you wear you watch all the time you should be able to scroll back at least 24 hrs and if there are large gaps other than when you took your watch off then your watch has crashed.

  • I'm having the same issue with my Epix (Gen 2). I've been troubleshooting with Garmin and am on my second watch now and both are having the same issues after the 10.43 update. Crashes randomly, sometimes during workouts others when just sitting. Sometimes I won't know it crashed until I see my steps or floors are less. I turned the watch off today as it crashed ten times in a row every two minutes, luckily I still have my fenix 6...but you realize how much you miss touch screen when you don't have it. I've sent a handful of debug reports to Garmin and they are reviewing. At this point no answer, but they are working with me to try to find a resolution.

  • This has to be more wide spread since my Enduro 2 is having the exact same issue.  Both after on v10.43.  I think most people are just not aware of it since the crash and restart is fast and not noticed.  You do see it in missing HR data.  I don't understand why the HR data is lost once the watch crashes though.

  • Here are the steps we ended up trying today. It's been 3 hours and I haven't had a reset, which is about the longest I've gone in the past few days.

Perform an unprompted reset and fully un-pair and re-pair your watch. Test the watch in it's stock state, no connect IQ content, transferred courses or other downloads. The unprompted reset is listed below.

This reset will clear all settings, user profile, records, activity history, Connect IQ content, and other data.

It is recommended to read the steps in full below before performing them.

    1. Ensure the watch is powered off.
      • You may need to hold LIGHT for up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
    2. Press and hold DOWNSTART/STOP, and BACK/LAP.
    3. Press LIGHT to power the watch on while holding these three buttons.
    4. After the first beep release START/STOP.
    5. After the second beep release the remaining buttons.

The reset is successful if the watch finishes powering up and goes through initial setup. Try the steps again if initial setup does not appear. Following the reset, place the watch outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.

  • I am sorry your watches are restarting after the v10.43 update. If you haven't already, there are 3 steps that can be tried if there is any new abnormal behavior immediately following a new software update.

    Please try the following:

    - Restart your watch.

    - Hard Reset by holding down your top left button until your watch shuts off then let go of the button.

If the issue still continues, the most you can to is fully reset your watch.

    - Reset in your System > Reset menu.

If the issue continues, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Thank you for the response. I've tried all those things and sitting here watching my Epix cycle through resets every 3 minutes. I'll reach back out to Product Support to assist.

  • I am sorry there was no luck in the steps tried.
