I’m going to be taking a small diving trip and can’t see to find a diving activity on my epix. Any ideas what to use instead? I don’t really see a relevant activity

If you want to take the risk of the water damage voiding the warranty, use for example Open Water Swimming, and then change…
its not just $5 on the seals - it is also changing the button design to inductive buttons etc.
But yes tend to agree with you that it would be nice if these watches were rated to that level as long as…
and distance
Sure about this? The only time you would have got distance would be between points on the surface when your watch regained GPS. That's not necessarily the same as distance travelled under water.
the watch is using the accelerometer to calculate swimming distance if there is no GPS during OWS activity.
That requires arm movement during the stroke. Who swims front crawl under water?
You do move your arms during diving and the watch does not only count front crawl. It will also use breaststroke (and maybe more, but not tested). So the movement of his arms during diving seems to be enough for the watch to interpret it as some swim motions and its adding distance.
It's an old thread, but anyway, Epix2 for diving is the Descent mk3.
