Race Against Yourself

Hi All,

I am wondering the best way to setup a race against myself. For example, I run in my neighborhood a lot and its not always the same pattern. I live in a development with a lot of forks and don't always go up and down the same forks so it doesn't make sense to draw out a course. 

I have attempted to play with the virtual partner but wasn't really getting how it's supposed to work. Is this the best method you guys suggest?
