Experiences in the winter

We will be taking a trip in the winter doing some camping and I will be in 20-30 degree weather for an extended period of time. I used to own an instinct 2 and that worked great but I am wondering if anyone has had any trouble or gripes with the epix not working too well? I know the battery will drain quicker in the cold weather. I am more worried about the buttons freezing up, screen not working, the screen cracking. EPIX doesn't really seem advertised as a rugged watch as instinct so I was curious on how you guys have faired.

"The official operating temperature range, from the manual, says -20c to +45c.
But you're probably fine even at -30c, because your body heat will offset that by quite a bit."

It's not a link to the manual. If you follow the link you will see some comments from people who have used the watch in the cold.

FWIW I've been using Garmin watches through winter for many years none of which have presented any problems. Granted we only get to 1C or 2C but long runs and long bikes have not presented any issues. Certainly, battery life does not appear to have been compromised noticeably and watch functions both in terms of hardware and software have not been impacted.
