EPIX 2 ! Problem buttons LIGHT and BACK LAP

Hello everyone! I have a problem with EPIX 2! The LIGHT and BACK LAP buttons sometimes work, sometimes they don’t (((Has anyone had this? And what should I do ???
  • why would they choose not to fix it but continue to replace zillions of watches

    2 reasons:

    1. It is manufacturing/desing flaw that would require recall of significant number of watches, so they keep quiet because recall would cost garmin a lot more than replacing watches that fail for just part of users who request it and are in countries where replacements arw offered

    2. They chose not to fix the issue because they do not consider it important - that approach can be repeatedly seen in software development (i.e. bug management/fixing)

  • Might be, we don't know.

To add something to the topic: my first watch was on firmware 11.28 when the BACK LAP button problem occurred. Neither the BACK button nor "swipe right" to go back would work. My 2nd watch was on 13.22 when the problem hit. I noticed I could still swipe right to go back in menus, it was just the button that was out of order.

Another difference with the LIGHT button. 11.28 would only accept long press (=the circle menu), while at 13.22 the button continued to function normally.

Also note I could revive the watch once after the problem occurred by putting it on the charger while still on (was a hint from support in the course of my first replacement). That resolved the issue. Before my last replacement, I tried the same trick, however it didn't work. If I recall correctly, when the trick did not work the watch was in sleep mode. So you might try to disable sleep mode, put the watch on the charger and hope. Fingers crossed Refrain from restarting the watch, that would so far always put me into the boot loop...

  • My mother always told me never to argue with deaf or blind people as they can neither hear what you say nor read what you write.

  • Thank you for your constructive feedback. I'm sure this will bring the topic forward.

  • It probably does.

Like my great-grandfather said: if you are running out of arguments, start attacking someone on a personal level.

  • This is not the first time that you try to offend someone or categorize them in similar fashion on this forum when you have no arguments to offer.

  • For what is worth, I'm waiting to receive my third epix. The second one back lap died after soaking the watch in fresh water after a kite session. I love this watch but it's hard to ignore this problem.

  • Received it today. Installed firmware version is 11.30 so it was manufacturer somewhen after February 2023. Button feeling isn't very good: they are mushy like my first one epix. The second one was much better but they failed. Let's see how much this is going to last

Same for me with my 3rd one. I hope the 4th one will be better Yum
