New alpha 9.35 - Battery Drain: Any improvement ?

The Alpha 9.35 has been released.

I have installed it and I hope the battery drain started in 9.33 will be over.

Please share your own experience in that thread.

Edit: On Gesture Mode it seems to be back on normal. At 84% the projection of battery graph is at 11 days.... not bad ! :-)

Edit 12 hours later: I have lost 3% and projection are back to normal.

Notice the discharge curb is flatter than on 9.33.

SO much better !!

  • OK thank you for the advice.

Just installed the 9.35 a few minutes ago... and now hoping for the battery drain to be back to normal !

Ca va le faire ! ;-)

  • It would make your day, huh ?

No it would not but as sure as the sun rises in the morning someone will post about battery issues within minutes of receiving an update. Quite how that can be determined is beyond me.

As I've said before, it's just as important for people who don't have problems to inform the wider public. All is not lost just because people post here with problems that are not experienced by everyone. All to easy to have the the view that any problem affects everyone if those who don't have the problem are censored.

I am pleased that 9.35 appears to have rectified the battery drain issues that some have. I am also pleased that the 9.35a has not changed mine.

  • I did a 50k ultra today and the watch performed flawlessly with 9.35. For the entire duration of the run I used multi GPS (I had a battery bank just in case) and by the end of the run I still had 40% left.

As far as I'm concerned, this alpha is way more stable and polished than the actual release. It feels more like a hotfix.

What Chris did here, needed to be done in the beta forum too. I was not too involved as i didn't have any increased drain but i don't remember any comment from Garmin and, in general, there was a lack of communication from Garmin regarding bug status.

They tried to do something at a certain point but the overall system needs to be improved, as many wrote in the beta section too...as it's still a relatively new approach, i hope that more improvements are on the way for future releases.

  • I'm not too active on these forums, but notice battery drain was noticeable on 9.33 glad I found this thread... Not jsut me :)

  • 9.35 appears better than 9.33 with regard to battery. Have had no issues, but time will tell.

  • so after many positive reports about the 9.35A, I'm about to install it myself, one last question :

is updating to 9.35 going to preserve all of my settings and data, such as HRV ?

Updating to another version is not supposed to erase/change any data/setting.

As said Pete, only Backdate which involve a Factory Reset is a PITA. ;)
    Updating is smooth.
