Epix 2 - Display Dimmed

Hi,

For Version 9.33 , the display is keeping dimmed and not fully wake .

Previous version when try to shake the watch when display is black , it will wake , but for v9.33 is only dimmed and have to touch it to fully wake.

It make difficult to see the screen.

Thanks

  • Think you are thinking of two different things:

AOD on - always on display is on - when in this mode it will dim when not active, and will brighten back up when active - i.e. notification, alert, wrist gesture (if on), touched (if on) and or a button is pressed.

AOD off - always on display is off - when in this mode and the watch isn't active the screen will go black. It will wake up when its active i.e. notificaton, alert, wrist gesture, touch (if all of these settings are set to on) and or a button is pressed.

If watch is in battery saver mode and or in sleep mode you can set the screen to be dimmer than usual. Default inactive mode is black and then wake up in dim mode when active.

Suggestion - whether on AOD on or AOD off suggest setting wrist gesture to on.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

My AOD Is on, wrist gesture off , it was fully wake when shake the watch for previous version.

But latest version , is only keep dim when shake the watch, make difficult to see the display.Hope that can have back this function in future.

    Anyhow, thank you

  • Sounds like you have sleep mode enabled.

edit: Just had a break in the sun. Yes it gets dim, in standby, even at highest brightness level. I feel my Apple Watch S7 does a better job with brightness control, but didn't have it with me. But Epix definately does a better job with battery life.

  • AOD function is that when the AOD is on it will dim when the watch isn't active, once display times out - its a battery saving feature, and probably a screen saving one too. If wrist gesture is off  it will remain off until you touch a button and or press the screen (assuming touch is on). Thus it is correctly working.

If you want the screen to wake up when you shake the watch/make a wrist gesture then you need to turn that option on.

  • The brightness level of the display does not apply to the dim state of AOD. Just to the "full", "active" state, regardless of how it is triggered (gesture, touch or button press).

So in bright sunlight, you will not see the AOD in dim state.
