v9.36 Official Software Fast Battery Drain

I'm going through the battery in 24-48 hours. No apps or fields installed. No GPS activities. Also having sync issues where I have to kill the connect app on Android to get it to sync. I had the same issues on beta now it persists into the production release

  • not needed, just disable auto update, and update when most bugs seem to have been solved, i wait also untill that, chances are too big you ruin your watch now with this update :(

  • quatix 7 Sapphire has the same problem...fast battery drain!

I don`t use Strava and I have performed step 1 (Power off/on) and 2 (Hard Reset), but there is no improvement!

I do not accept the factory reset, because it`s took too much time to restore my personal settings and there is no guarantee for improvement.

Please provide instead immediately a SW fix, that not the customer has the pain!

Its really annoying, when you can`t use your watch for your next outdoor adventure, because the battery life is too short. Its the first thing you should test before releasing a SW...

  • Hello Chris

As you know by checking other posts we are many to get in battery drain concerns after updating to 9.33 but also to have perform SW/HW reset or factory reset without success !

Does the Garmin team is working on adressing the "nominal usage" drain issue (about 30% lost...), and not only the Strava Live segment related issue ?

Thank you for your clarifications !

  • And yet with soo many complaints there is not much feedback from Garmin, we know now that a factory reset could help, but also often not, before the update there were no isues, after there were, so the problem lies in the update, at least give the unfortunates who updates an easy way to revert back to the old software, with Apple there is always an easy way to go back within some time after a big update, why not here ? we did not buy +1000$ watches so we have to tinker ourselfs on it to get it to work...

  • Complex watches ask for many tests I guess.

  • Hi chris please add me to the tracking case

Anyone experiencing fast battery drain not using segments, please do not hesitate to highlight my name and send me a message so I can get you added to a tracking for fast battery drain when not using segments.

Thus far, the fast battery drain issue has been confirmed segment related for the majority since many owners have already confirmed disabling their segments fully resolved the issue temporarily for now while the main cause is found by engineering and resolved.

  • Another remark that came to my mind with regards to some users who are not experiencing battery drain.

The 50% drop is quite significant when you are using the gesture mode, but most probably for AOD users the difference is slim to none (since the main power consumer is AMOLED screen) hence not seeing a big difference.

    Just a thought.

  • Chris - please add me to your tracking programme. I am getting around 50% to 60% of the previous battery life following the update to 9.33. I do not use segments..
