  • might be helpful if you explain what errors/issues you experienced....

I was in the pool on Sunday and tracked a session and only had one missed lap count, which was due to someone getting in my way so had to break my stroke, and thus isn't the watches fault - otherwise it was flawless.

I have found that not using auto-rest, and instead using lap button to determine rest intervals works a lot better - but may the lap count isn't your issue.

  • You are right. Let say usually I don't plan workout for swimming but I just use the watch to record, especially when I was using the FR935 that was getting old managing workout. But with Epix2 I tried again and... I planned the workout with a combination of lap button for resting (when single step) and using auto-rest during interval. It seems the watch mixed up the things. I mean, the workout was quite simple:

    1. warmup (lap rest)
    2. 6xIntervals (auto-rest 15s)
    3. single step (1000mt) (lap rest)
    4. 6xIntervals (auto-rest 15s)
    5. Cooldown

Step1 and 2 were fine. Then in step 3 fine as well, but when started the step n.4: first interval ok, then the 2nd interval went back to single step mode (I mean 1000mt interval). It seems it mixed up things... (it could be also I mixed up something)... but what it's then strange, the expected length was 3300 mt, I did 3300mt (I did exactly was planned) but the Epix2 records 4100mt.

Because as said, when in the step4 it started counted more than expected.

I hope it's more or less clear what I wrote, nevertheless I'm going to re-test and see what happens.

  • I find the auto rest functionality is an epic fail. Or is that an Epix fail? Kick sets and many drills won't get tracked properly because they predominately aren't proper strokes. I find most lengths are recorded properly unless something disturbs my stroke or impacts a turn.  That said, I'll still use auto rest and just manually adjust the workout or add notes on what the actual workout was.

  • I agree, I find also most lengths are recorder properly, usually I have 50m or 100m error over 3000m, but this time and with the new watch, something went totally wrong.

Agreed. To many delays automatically stopping and starting.

No surprises there. That’s why the Drill Log option is there.

Agreed. However, there are some who for whatever reason cannot get good results. Some of that might be related to stroke choice and swimming ability. Freestyle appears to have the best chance of a good result with difficulties coming from other strokes. And of course, any interruptions in the pattern during a length will more likely than not have an impact on the results too.
