Auto lap by position

Dear all,

I would like to ask how this feature should normally work. Is it using the same waypoints that should appear in „up ahead“ to trigger an auto lap? I am asking because up ahead is not working consistently (9.28 beta and earlier) for me.

Do I have to use GCM/Garmin Connect waypoints? Is it working with Garmin Explore waypoints or Garmin Explore „points“ (the ones you are are creating by clicking on the map to create the track and those you can rename and give another symbol too)?

From the (F7x) manual: The Auto Position option marks laps at a location where you previously pressed LAP. When you complete a lap, a customizable lap alert message appears. This feature is helpful for comparing your performance over different parts of an activity.

I assume same thing on Epix, because they are using almost the same fw.

I’ve used this at our local 3 lap parkrun. The watch will generate a lap every time I pass the start. There’s no need to do anything else apart from select auto lap by position.

Oooh, I've never seen this setting before.

Can you tag multiple lap places?

ie - if I did a circuit and pressed lap in two places and back as I crossed the start, to split it into three segments, would I get autolaps at all three locations on subsequent circuits??

You do know that Epix also offers a host of virtual ghost features like virtual partner, and or race an activity which I think would probably better suit your purpose.

Wow, I had been waiting for this feature for all my Fenixes, until I realized that not even F6 family including Enduro got it. I thought no outdoors watches would gett it never, it would be some feature that was introduced and kept for Edges, running watches and triathlon watches (305, 310XT, 920XT etc), but not for outdoors wearables.

So when F7 came out I did not even ask about it.

It is such a nice surprise I might buy some F7 or Enduro 2
