How to disable auto Sleep Mode (including its schedule) and only use manual Sleep Mode?

Hello,

I have just replaced Fenix 7S with Epix 2 and would like not to have automatic Sleep Mode, but to enter Sleep Mode manually only.

I have irregular work shifts with no pattern, so no "automatic" here is suitable for me.

How can this be done?

Thanks for any tips

  • I am a shift worker and I hate this function. Yes I HATE it. I don't understand its existence. My old Amazfit was able to detect naps, sleep and all the rest without this manual cottage industry hidden in non-intuitive options poking around.

  • Well on the Forerunner 165 I've finally decided the only option is to disable Sleep Mode in the In Focus and At a Glance settings.

So basically this means that sleep tracking is disabled. You can still set a manual Nap but it will only record the number of minutes.

I've had two major life events in the past few months. One was a round-the-world trip which involved multiple time zones and OBVIOUSLY therefore my sleep patterns were unusual. Without any way of temporarily disabling sleep mode or editing it, I was stuck with getting 'told off' by my watch for poor sleep.

Then, and much more seriously, my brother died suddenly. We were very close. Again, OBVIOUSLY, my sleep was disturbed. How can it possibly have helped my wellbeing to have Garmin telling me off for bad sleep?

Garmin, you should hang your heads in shame for this. The inability to programme manual sleep tracking, or temporarily switch it off, is an absolute disgrace.

  • I’ve eventually given up and returned to Apple Watch.

The Garmin Sleep metrics are atrocious and the inability to switch Sleep schedule off is beyond annoying. It’s dreadfully inaccurate and then starts nagging you / telling you off even if you know there are a) extenuating circumstances or b) it’s plain wrong.

I don’t buy a smart watch to find the thing turns into some dystopian gremlin sitting on my wrist.

I listed it on ebay and went out and bought an Apple 10 instead.
