How to disable auto Sleep Mode (including its schedule) and only use manual Sleep Mode?

Hello,

I have just replaced Fenix 7S with Epix 2 and would like not to have automatic Sleep Mode, but to enter Sleep Mode manually only.

I have irregular work shifts with no pattern, so no "automatic" here is suitable for me.

How can this be done?

Thanks for any tips

  • bizarre is a good word for it ;)
...and stubborn as well, I always end not only the sleep mode but also the sleep itself through the menu of the sleep widget when I get up. Does not keep the watch from knowing it better than me and doing stuff like that.
But since I changed my sleep mode schedule to approximately when I usually sleep it's been much better, the sleep phases and awake times are still wrong but at least most of the time inside the sleep mode schedule or close to it.
I don't work shifts I just would prefer to have the always on display on until I actually go to bed and off until I actually get up and don't do that at exactly the same time every day since I don't have a strict schedule at work and even less of one on weekends. I have the luxury of sleeping when I'm tired and most of the days until I wake up on my own and having the watch display on when I'm still sleeping or half sleeping is not ideal, it's too bright in a dark room. And in the evening it's just annoying to look at the watch and having the display off and I don't like the gesture activating, too unreliable and slow.
All no big things but it probably would also not be a big thing to give the option to activate the sleep mode manually and only allow the sleep detection when sleep mode is on. But who knows maybe it is too much effort to implement, I don't know the software. Or there are only a few people who'd like to have it. For people who work shifts and sleep at different times it would sure be helpful.

  • I do not have much to complain  about with Garmin but tbh the implementation of sleep tracking is not the best. I also use a Whoop 4 and the results are comparable to my results with Garmin within the bounds of reality and for that reason I am likely not to renew the Whoop subscription. However the Whoop manages to achieve this without setting a sleep time and is also able to add naps which it will subtract from the following night's sleep requirement. As I said there isa good correlation between Whoop and Garmin results, so not all bad from the Garmin side but room for improvement..

  • Excactly, that is precisely what we need. I work irregularly and cannot schedule my sleep.

Garmin please, give us the choice to use auto sleep mode or not.

  • Yeah it's crazy even my old Samsung Watch can detect auto sleep. Example at night , in the morning if I wake up watch TV and sleep again, Or sometimes even if you sick you can sleep 2-3 times a day and that watch capable to detect all sleeping periods automatically.

Garmin just detects sleeping on the scheduled time. If I set from 00:00 - 07:00 , even if I decided to stay longer it's goes to sleep watch face. I turned off it manually and after some time it goes back to sleep mode again even I'm not sleeping. Once I slept in the morning I decided to sleep longer. So I wake up turned my phone alarm OFF and went back to sleep. But garmin showing only my sleep from 3:22 AM actual Bed time and 7:55 Wake Time. But in real I awake only at 11:00. and had extra 3 h sleep. this sleeping period is not seen in the garmin sleep duration. So it's really sad tha watch can't auto track sleeping stages and only can on scheduled time period. I can't estimate each day and change all the time my time.

  • you can sleep 2-3 times a day and that watch capable to detect all sleeping periods

Garmin is working on that in the latest Beta, just trying it out now but it is not good enough yet since it currently report fake naps, but the Beta testers are trying it out to help find Bugs in the Software.

Just have a little patience and it will be officially released in about 3 months when more mature

  • I also work irregular shift hours and get multi part sleeps in a day when I work crossing multiple time zones at the same time, This sleep schedule simply doesn't work for me (set to 1min at lunch time), it actually turns my sleep mode OFF if I was sleeping over that period...

Garmin should have the option of turning the schedule off if it doesn't work for you...and on again when it does...

  • 13k people have read this thread, no solution. How do we get Garmin to add the manual sleep mode?

  • Please fix this annoying bug. It is disruptive to normal watch usage.

  • Can this be introduced as a bug and then voted? Or how do you request features on Garmin? Would also like hear a comment from Garmin on this issue.
