Garmin Pay will not activate, also watch says that the wallet is not activated

For some reason i can not get Garmin Pay to function, the card is supported, VISA says all is well on their side, and yet everytime i try to add the card ( only card also) it go all well till the moment it tries to get the verification, then a pop up on my iphone says: There was a mistake trying to get the user verification methods, try again or call your bank.

If i try open the wallet on my watch ( with no card detached to it ofc) wallet says it is not activated and i have to activate wallet by the connect app ?

I already disconected renmoved connect, watch etc , but that also not helped, anyone have a sollution ?

Iphone 13 pro max on ios15.6 , epic is also on latest software 8.37

  • As my story tells you, i DID, and they told me all is well and that Garmin pay is at fault, and that the wallet has to be active , but thats the question also : how to activate wallet ??  when i deleted the no activated card  then wallet says it is empty, when i try add the card and it fails then wallet says: that wallet is not activated and i should activate by connect, but there is no activation of wallet anywhere.

  • Im tried another vias card ( wife's) also and same, also there is no asking for a PIN code for payment, normally when you ad an card it should ask for the pin code you want for it, but thats also not happening

  • I see that you're specifying more than once "VISA"...keep in mind that it's not related to the type of card but to the bank.

You can find the list of participating banks here https://www.garmin.com/en-US/garminpay/banks/

If your bank is participating then it's probably better to contact Garmin directly.

If your bank is not in the list then you can try to go with something digital(if anything is available in your country).

  • according to my bank, this visa card is supported

  • Does your bank know the difference between Garmin pay or Google pay or Samsung pay?

I don't want to insist but a look at the list on the Garmin website can be a good idea...sorry again but with your answer it looks like you didn't check the list and you're trusting the bank and it could be that they are confusing different digital payments. In some countries, Google/Apple pay is supported by 99% of banks but if you check for Garmin Pay or Fitbit pay the situation is a lot different.

  • ICS/VISA is on the garmin site as suported also for my country, so it is a ICS VISA , i called support also today (Garmin) and they said it is suported and i should try again until it works, what is a bit of a stupid answer i think. i am trying since 2 days now, even put epix back to factory reset, connect erased and re downloaded on iphone also, but still not working

  • There is always an exception to what I am about to say, and your experience might be that exception, but 99.999% of the time, your error is on the bank end. The issue is the bank does genuinely believe all is well. However, when we receive these one-off scenarios and we teach to contact your bank but speak to an escalated Tier, normally an IT level support tier, the issues gets resolved 100% of the time.

Even though you have contacted your bank and they have confidently said everything is good to go, the exact point you are receiving the message is when Garmin Pay contacts your bank directly to do a data handshake and receive permission from your bank to finish the process. Your bank's response is 'no' and that is why you cannot get any further.

  • I had again a call with ICS/VISA and they told me they did not get any request of GarminPay in these days so they blame Garmin for not going the correct way and the fault is on Garmins side, as they never got any request to add a ICS/VISA card to Garmin Pay.

So this is going forth and back between Garmin and ICS :(    sadly no Garmin Pay for me it seems even when it should be possible, bad situation this.

  • The Garmin site on what cards are supported tells me the card i have is supported a ICS VISA card in my country, ICS also says it is supported and yet it will not work, and they know the difference also.:)  Thats why this is so frustrating both Garmin and ICS say it should work, but it does not:(
