I have some Apple iPod Pro earphones. They connect and work perfectly with my epix 2 - on the 2nd try every time. So the first attempt always fails. I had same problem last year with same earphones and my fenix 6 Pro. They are paired with my iPhone although I might be out of Bluetooth range of my iPhone any still have this issue.
Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas?
Exactly the same behaviour with my Bose Sport Earbuds. I now know to put in my earbuds, press button on the case to abort the earbuds trying to connect and just be ready to connect. Then I select playlist…
Had that problem, but don't if I turn off the phone bluetooth and or the headset was last connected to my watch (Shokz Aeropex); otherwise it pairs on first time; but do always go through sensor setting…

Then I select playlist on my watch, it starts searching for headphones, I immediately press back button and start button to try again and in a couple of seconds connection is made.
It's like a mating ritual. 
I do feel it's not something specific for just the Epix. Before I used the 945 and connecting to the same buds with that watch was also an annoying experience. Seems like there is like a handshake protocol that is implemented differently by watch and buds.
