HIIT/Yoga/Strength etc - is there a better way?

So I've always just use apps on phone or iPad to guide these sessions (Adidas Training/Hevy/etc) - whilst just tracking a generic/free Strength/HIIT/Yoga session on the watch to capture heart rate and have it available in Garmin Connect afterwards etc.

But - having glanced at the capabilities of these profiles on the watch recently, they seem to have really improved, and I'd like to consider using them.

I can re-build my routines as Workouts in GC, but...doing HIIT or Yoga especially its not really very convenient to look at your wrist to see what you're supposed to be doing next. Much like you can broadcast your HR, is there some way of viewing a Workout live in the GC app whilst you execute it on the Watch? Is this technically feasible moving forwards??

Or - should I stick to capturing the activity 'free' on my Watch, hitting 'lap' after each set on HIIT sessions, and then editing them afterwards?

What practices do others use who use the watches for these activities?

  • I would recommend using the Cast feature if you are on Android or AirPlay if you are on iPhone and stream it to a TV, That is the closest you can get right now. There is not a feature that will allow you to stream to your phone from the watch.
