[ Epix 2 vs Tactix 7 ]: Today's Suggestion

  • In the last picture there seems to be a lot backlight bleeding? However it occurs only when in dark environments I guess.. I still like the tactic / fenix screen more.

    If your country/city/area has a lot of sunny days, then Tactix/Fenix X is better. In cloudy countries, northern latitudes, Epix is easier to read. In short, we need Epix X

  • I  think the OP is trying to suggest that both watches have the same metrics, but watch is giving completely different daily workout suggestions. The Epix is suggesting a base run with a TE of 2.5 and 0 while the tactix is suggesting a Threshold run with TE of 4 & 2.0.

    I think the poster is asking why the difference?

     First item to note that even if they are both being used to track the same activity they do not have the same readings - top right shows different 7DL scores.They will also not have the same Stress (and BB readings) - more on why this is NB later.

    But as more goes into suggested workout that just your 7DL - its not easy to explain why the watch's are offering different workouts. I suspect that it may be due to one of the factors listed here but as we don't have all these metrics for both - its not easy to confirm the reason for the difference :

    • Training Status

    • Training load and load focus

    • VO2 max value

    • Recovery time

    • Sleep data

    • Profile of recently performed workouts

    I suspect that its very likely that stress is causing the difference as it impacts sleep and recovery time and can recent performed workouts.

    Also don't know if both watches were fully synced just before the picture was taken, as this can help them get closer, but even if they weren't stress and body battery are watch specific - so depending on what was being worn more to that point in time is probably the best workout suggestion.

    Would suggest that the OP goes to last page of the daily suggested workout as there is usually a bit of a blurb about why that workout is suggested - very likely may point out why a Threshold for the Tactix and a Base for the E2

    For example mine should have suggested a high tempo, threshold or anaerobic today - but instead suggested a 40min base - when I checked why - it was a base - watch says it was due to my sleep (which it was correct). Am rather glad I didn't do a tempo this morning and did do a recovery this morning, as 11 hrs later and I am dragging. Might have been OK with a base, but need to stay up later this evening than usual (why i did a recovery) - so am really glad I didn't get tempo etc as would be really dragging by now.
