Always OFF display during activities , is it possible?

Is it possible to configure so the screen is always OFF during activities and only activate with touch/button press?

Sometimes I just want to record the activity and I don't need to look at the screen, so it does not need to be active. This would save a lot of battery.

I have tried to disable it in settings (Display-> During activity-> Screen OFF) but it does not seem to work. It is also disabled in per activity (Running) setting. But it is still always on.

Do you have it set to activate with gesture? What other settings do you have enabled in Settings, System, Display, During Activity?

Looks like I was a little bit quick posting this.

Always off DO work, but it works a little bit different then regular use, where screen turns off out almost immediately. In activity mode it turns off after 1 minute after dimming down, so it takes 1 min + 7 seconds before its blacks out.

AOD off only works from version 8.21 - so have you updated to latest version?

Then you need to create a power profile with AOD to OFF - and then assign that power profile to that sport. AOD off does work differently to normal AOD off in that once you have activated the screen it will stay on until you press light button and or move your hand back down again (this may just be if using wrist gesture), or put palm against screen (quick tap not long). It purposely stays on so you can see you data for as long as it is required - screen will dim after a while. Makes sense as you would find it very irritating if trying to navigate and the screen keeps turning off when you need it on.

I find this works very well with wrist gesture, but then only used for running, walking and hiking - haven't yet used for SUP so no idea how well this would work with paddling/rowing where your arm movement is so different.

I have Gesture mode on. With kayaking the display is contantly turning on (and battery is draining). Is it possible to switch off gesture mode only for activity kajak?

I wonder why it waits 1 minute during an activity.

unfortunately currently gesture mode isn't an option to tweak per activity like display is; You might want to raise as a feature request so that it is added to the other requests.

Currently the only way I now to adjust gesture is via system settings - display. Where you can set it for during activities, not during activities and sleep.
