I never thought to remove pins to clean the watch behind them. In the shower when I clean my kit (watch & HR strap) I remove the watch straps and with a soft brush I can remove any dirt and salt build…
they are removable. You’ll need a tool, since they’re not the usual spring bar but it is doable.
and, small brushes (e.g. the kind for inside straws) get into those books and crannies.
Removing the pins is overkill. Just take the bands off, get a toothbrush with lots of soap on it, scrub everything and rinse with fresh water.
