Garmin Epix 2 Charging Problem

Surely this is a software bug or faulty watch.  Can others confirm?

When I plug the Epix 2 watch into my desktop computer's USB the charging display looks normal.

However the same charging lead plugged into my Wall socket USB or a quality USB power unit produces a flickering screen.

Running standard software 8.21

The watch is approximately 1 week old

    When you connect to desktop comp. watch goto MTP mode. Standalone charger not do this. 

    Install standart watchface and check again.

    I confirm, I get this error with custom watch face apps.garmin.com/.../a24870e3-b1ea-40a4-aea9-655cdf1d3ee2

    Okay I performed much more analysis after  . made the suggestion this issue is only with non Garmin Watch faces.

    Essentially True.

    First

    In systems menu you can setup USB Connectivity as Garmin or MTP == Media Transfer Protocol

     

    USB set to Garmin, Garmin Watchface,  plugged into USB wall socket

    USB Mode set to MTP,  plugged into computer, no flicker

    USB set to Garmin,  plugged into computer

    USB set to Garmin, Garmin watchface, plugged into computer, decline MTP mode,  then  no Battery charging displayed , but if I scroll down once then Battery charging is shown, no flicker

    Overall then with a Garmin watch face on display when the watch is plugged into a wall socket i.e non computer source you get charging and the battery icon does not flicker.   

    So some, or the ones that I used so far, custom watchfaces, seem to have programming that produces this charging symbol  flicker, I presume unintentionally , because it is very unseemly.

    Might be worthwhile contacting the developers of the watch faces.

    Garmin system notifications should not allow themselves to be overlap. 

    And all ConnectIQ functions that can block the screen should not work at the time the notification pops up!

    Notifications should only disappear on button press, touchscreen, timeout or higher priority notifications like high/low heart rate, mobile call, etc.

    Hello back.   So on my Epix 2 running software 09.28   for me there is no issue anymore

    a) on my chosen (3rd party) watchface,  when I plug in the power to an AC adapter I see a charging notification, then in some seconds the watch blanks so there is noticable flicker and it charges.

    b) Mainly though I  now resort to charging my Epix 2 via a usb-c dongle adapter to my Apple Mac Mini.  Here it first asks me about MTP mode  (I answer yes), then seconds later the screen blanks but it is charging.

    The screen blanking on charging is new to me.

    I was doing an Ultra and met a competitor who showed me this neat USB-C adapter    (thanks Rod[rigo] !)

    So here it is plugged into Mac Mini moments before the screen blanks.  If I touch the screen whilst charging then the watch briefly wakes to show me the current charge.
