Crashing and Restarting

I have been getting spontaneous restarts on my Epix Gen 2 for 2 months now. This keeps on happening outside of an activity, once every few days.

I realise that something is happening when the watch emits a strong continuous vibration out of nowhere and restarts, which is followed by a short and swift series of vibrations.
This has already been reported quite a few times.. I have posted on the forums more than once and sent Garmin a couple of emails via [email protected] 
Not sure what I need to do to get someone's attention. It is unacceptable to spend £900 on a watch that is as unstable as this.
I already had one replacement and it did not fix the problem I am experiencing.

    I would suggest calling Garmin support. I have had my Epix for since early March, I have installed all but one of the betas and I am now on 8.18 and I have never had a reboot once. I feel your pain but you may well have defective hardware.

  • he says he had already a replacement, so getting a faulty epix 2 times looks almost impossible.I am reading a lot of problems at this forum regarding the epix and i start to fear i did buy the wrong brand/type now, for this kind off money one would expect it to be a better watch then say a Apple watch or Samsung Gear.Time will tell i guess.....

  • As is saying, I am on my second Epix Gen 2....

  • Thanks for this. I also had my first ever response via email today.

    I was asked to upload the err_log and RAM files, which is now done.

    EDIT: Chris, thanks for sorting out the replacement of my first watch. As you can verify, this exchange was one month ago and I started having the issue a couple of weeks prior.

  • Hopefully Garmin can sort this out. I've done 3 ultra races and many activities and never had a reboot. Had my Epix since January. Clearly something causes them as several are reporting this. I hope this gets solved soon.

  • Indeed. What has been frustrating is that this has been going on ever since I got my first watch. The Epix has been a revelation, which is nearly ruined by these issues. The only change in behaviour I have witnessed is that the watch would simply reboot without warning. Now it reboots and announces the crash with a series of strong vibrations.

    I made it as clear as possible that this crash is different to what people were/are seeing in terms of reboots during an activity, where they can resume the activity even after the reboot.

  • I spent 40 minutes after 22:00 UK time last night uploading information with the transfer continuously failing. No one bothered enough to inform me if the files were received in the end, in spite of me sending two emails since.

    Can you please confirm that you guys have all you need????

  • Are you using a stock watch face or a custom one? Also are you using CIQ glances? We have seen other users reporting stability issues with CIQ apps and faces. Just wondering.
