Easy migration from fenix 6 to epix 2 ?.

Last month I upgraded my old Edge 1000 from 2015 to the Edge 1030 plus.
Migration was as easy as changing cellphone via Android Smart Switch.

Tomorrow my epix 2 arrives in the mail and I would therefore ask the community if there is a similar smart way to migrate from fenix 6 to epix 2 ?.

Best regards

  • I went from a 6 Pro Solar to the EPIX - since the main history and all your legacy workout data is inside your overall Garmin account, that part of the switch is seamless. What you'll still have to do is set up your activity proflies and the various data fields within those activities, as new. The good thing about the newer devices is that you can set up your data screens within the mobile app itself (can also do on the watch if you want, like it's always been) but using the mobile app is faster.
I'd also suggest loading up the latest beta software builds, if you're comfortable with using beta software versions. Garmin has loaded a TON of fixes and improvements in their beta builds.
Overall though the process is painless (but it DOES take a little work to personalize the new device). Good luck.

  • I went from 6 Pro to Epix 2 as well.  Same experience as Neil above. I had thought ahead of time it would take me like a day to switch over; it took like an hour.

  • As others have mentioned, the data is pretty straight forward. The main thing to consider before you switch is to note down:

    1) any Connect IQ activities/watch faces/etc you use, check if they are available for the Epix 2 if you still plan to use them, and note down the settings

    2) If you have customized any of the data screens then note down what they are (assuming you like them)

    3) Check the settings you have on Lap alerts etc

The above things do not migrate across (at least in my experience), and also some of the ConnectIQ apps/watch faces that I had on the Fenix 6 Pro were not available on the Epix 2.

  • I would just update the software to the latest finished firmware, not the beta's, as they are introducing issues a new user may not want to deal with.

  • not the beta's, as they are introducing issues a new user may not want to deal with

Really? Seems to me they are fixing more issues than they are introducing and sorting out many

issues a new user may not want to deal with.

  • There is no really easy way. Set it up from scratch and do not try to add anything from your F6 directly to the Epix.

  • Good ideas.
Guess I´ll have to wait with selling the old fenix 6 until I have control over all the settings, datafields, unlock codes etc.
And I will update to latest beta version, update maps.
Some of my datafields isnt supported with epix 2, but I can live with that.
I just look some much forward to GLS is dropping it off later today.

  • I got my new Epix yesterday (old one Fenix 6X pro solar). Taken the new watch in to use was quite smooth. Most of the settings came from Garmin mobile connect and rest I did manually.

I've followed a practise not to do any restore from old device as there almost always comes something that breaks the new one. Better just start from scratch.

I love this new Epix, so light and smaller than 6X pro solar and beautiful screen. There seemed to be so many improvements and fixes in beta sw compared to sw7.35, so I installed it right away.
