epix 2 like gps bike computer

Hello,

I try to use my epix 2 like a bike computer but the backlight are note always on. the watch is on eco mode after 15sec max. under sunlight i didn't see anything and i need to touch the screen to turn on the backlight again. i see all system menu and nothing exist to keep the screen on when you use your watch like a bike computer.

i know aod is very poor battery life but i want the choice to backlight my watch like i want. please garmin make an upgrade to add this option. my watch is not usable fot the moment.

I don't just ride a bike. we'll say 50/50 with the rest but given the price of the watch I'd like to do what I want with it. even if I only have 5 hours of autonomy, I want to be able to cycle comfortably…

thank for your answer. my watch is already set with aod for cylcing. i see everytime information on screen. juste after 15sec i have eco mode and she reduce backlight and its very difficult to see information

i want to have the backlight max every time but this parameter doesn't exist or i didn't found it

For most conditions EXCEPT direct sunlight, sure - no problem. However, most of my outdoor cycling is done in direct sunlight where I need a touch, button push, or an alert to temporarily boost the display up to full brightness so I can correctly read the displayed data.

The dim AOD display is really a problem when I'm pushing for longer than the set display timeout and really can't take a hand off the handlebars to see where I stand vis a vis the data.

I'm confident Garmin will come up with some acceptable compromise between full data display with full illumination, and current dimly lit AOD display.

its exactly the problem. i need to touch the screen or a button for activate the backlight under sunlight. its a problem. i wait garmin for a solution otherwise i must to buy a fenix 7

I do not think Garmin sees the Epix as a proper bike computer. I have been using Epix for cycling las 4 weeks or so and it just fine. I mostly run so I think I will get by and will not buy a proper bike computer, but for someone that the main activity is cycling I'd recomend a diferent device. It is not only the dimmed screen at direct sunlight, battery drain is HUGE if you need to navigate and use the map screen. I mean, the watch is still great but is not really intended to replace a actual bike computer.

Above all, it is only a software modification, after which everyone is free to use it or not, but for my little Sunday bike ride I want to be able to use my watch without buying an edge specifically for cycling.
