epix 2 titanium bezel scratches very easily

I was seriously surprised how easy the watch gets scratched. I only had it for a week and already have a large one on my bezel without any substantial damage done to it.

Hoping if garming ever reviews this forum then they  would consider making this watch a little bit more durable in the future because now it is a complete joke.

  • So, i would expect a litt bit more from the outdoor premium  watch

How can any manufacturer protect against every knock, bang, or scrape? Nobody, and I mean nobody who has reported scratching their watch in these forums has ever knocked, banged, or scraped their watch yet scratches miraculously appear. Oops forgot. Somebody remembered they brushed their watch against some wood. I make no apologies for having a great deal of skepticism.

The best way to protect against any damage is to leave the watch in its box.

  • This is unhelpful. People have a legitimate expectation that a sports watch will not scratch easily. I'm not saying the Epix does scratch easily - I have no idea (I have a 6x grey DLC that does not have a scratch on it). But whether the DLC coating on the Epix is as robust as on previous models, or other watches, is a perfectly legitimate question.

  • Not only are the Fenix/Epix watches more durable than an AW, the entire health, fitness and training ecosystem of Garmin is superior over the AW.  Also, I can't image having to wear the hideously ugly AW.  The rectangular case is more of a feminine design to me.  The AW looks absolutely horrible on men.  I wouldn't get caught wearing an AW.  The look of the Fenix/Epix series of watches exude fitness, training, toughness, durability, and badassness (is that a word?  LOL), unlike the weak AW.

  • Yes Scratches ! I see scratches !!! I'll help. Me help a lot with scratches !!

You can use jeweller pads !! Like those:

  • Of course it's a legitimate question to ask... of Garmin but you're not going to find an answer here. I never said it wasn't a legitimate question. However, I did note that...

Nobody, and I mean nobody who has reported scratching their watch in these forums has ever knocked, banged, or scraped their watch yet scratches miraculously appear.

    including the OP!

  • I spent 3 times the amount on the Epix 2 than on any of the many smartwatches in the past. I have a few dings on mine but I thought about it and it’s better than putting a plastic case on it and having it look like a $20 Casio. That’s what I did previously. I can see both sides but my main concern is always the screen. I did buy the sapphire version but also use a screen protector anyway because it’s cheap and doesn’t hinder the look of the watch at all. Once they inevitably break I will probably go without one based on what I read though. I already had them prior to receiving delivery of the watch.

  • Nobody  really  is looking for an answer here.

This post was meant to provide  a feedback as i was genuinely surprised of a very poor scratch  resistance  of the watche's bezel.

You see all these smartphone scratch  tests online  and how strong  they hold up and then buy a very expensive  outdoor  watch just to find out that you can scratch  it by just knocking it off a drywall.

  • Excuse my incredulity but you would have us believe that you scratched your watch by knocking it against what is essentially paper:

Drywall is naturally made of gypsum board. The Gypsum board is placed in the middle of the total structure and it is surrounded by two paper boards

This is why I love these forums. Some of the claims are truly fantastical!

  • You are arguing  for no reason

I cant even remember knocking it off anything tbh

  • agree with you. The reality is that we have, we were just distracted or didn't realize what we were doing. You are quite right - scratches do not just miraculously appear - you have to have connected the watch with something. And just because you didn't notice it at the time, doesn't mean the contact was soft, could have been hard and it just wasn't noticed due to other stuff going on.
