Battery percentage always wrong

How common is the battery reading bug (sw or hw, I don't know).

Since day 1 my epix has jumped between 100% and 1-2-3% battery.

In the beginning it was more 100% after charge then it stayed there for days. But if I would power off the watch it would jump to 1-2%.

Now I don't "have to" reboot it any more, after every full charge it jumps down to 1-2% by itself within 10 minutes. But the battery works fine, I can use the watch for +5 days but it sits at 1%.

I found a similar report in the Fenix 7 forums.

I wonder if the battery monitoring circuit just needs to be calibrated. This is typically done by letting the watch run until it dies and shuts itself off, then charging back up completely.

I haven't seen this with my Epix, but I had an issue a few years back with my FR935 that I fixed by doing this.

If that doesn't fix it, I would suggest contacting Garmin for a replacement because it sounds like a hardware problem.

I am sorry there is an issue with the reading.

Please try the following:

Hard Reset: Hold down your top left power button until your watch shuts off then let go once off

If the issue continues, reset through your System > Reset menu.

After reset, still 1% even though it was fully charged yesterday.

It has done that, shutdown last Thursday after running for 3-4 days with 100% battery remaining. Then just before a training session it dropped to 16% and 5 minutes later it shutdown. Started again and it was at 1% and shutdown soon after. Then back home charged 2 hours to 100% but immediately dropped to 1% after a short while ‍♂️

Hmmm. The behavior is all over the place. The Fenix 7 thread you linked had 1 owner reporting the issue and it resolved. I am not seeing any trend across the forums for either the Fenix 7 series or Epix 2 series. Given everything you have tried, at this point it will be best to reach out Outdoor Product Support in your region to inquire into warranty replacing your watch.
