Only 4 brightness option

I have AOD on, and at night at the idle position at the lowest brightness it is still very bright, not to mention the watch awake position.  possible to have more brightness option, at least one lower brightness option?  My only work around is when it’s too bright in a dark room when I put my kids to bed at 730pm I have to make a short cut to physically put the watch in sleep mode to turn off the screen so my kids will not see my watch.

  • This is pretty standard on any smartwatch. AOD is usually too bright at night and not bright enough under certain circumstances during the day. It’s almost impossible to get a balance that works for everyone. It’s not a Garmin problem but just the reality of an amoled screen. What I wouldn’t mind seeing though is 4 or 5 options vs the standard 3 for tilt to wake for more precise adjustments which definitely could be done with a software update. The best solution is to try a bunch of watchfaces from the store and try one that maybe has a gray scale or a night time brightness and design that works for you.

  • Thanks, coming from Fenix 6X so it take some getting use to

  • I don't really get this -
There are *4* options (there's an extra "ultra low" level if you configure via the app instead of on the watch)...but the Watch uses that as a baseline, and adjusts depending on ambient lighting.

Try lighting up in a dark place under a desk, and then move to light streaming in from a window, and you'll see the movement.

So - "Ultra Low" in the evening dark is lower than "Ultra Low" if you're outside at midday.

(I do get how AOD even on Ultra Low might be too bright in the dark - but I prefer Gesture mode anyway - its a shame for those that prefer AOD, that there's not a schedule for applying Gesture mode, maybe tied in with Sunrise/Sunset)

  • personally I would like to see the ability to add more profiles than just sleep, Battery saver and DND. Would be awesome if we had the ability to create profiles so that on a weekday it perhaps used this watch face and you could set to AOD on, touch on, gesture off, then at say 6pm it would change to AOD off, touch on, gesture on - so you had a work set up; but on weekend you had it set with different watch face and may whole day as AOD off, touch on, gesture on.

Bit like one can do with phones.

  • That's a lot of drama, no offense.. Turn off AOD, and gesture, and the screen will never bother anyone. I touch my watch to wake up, leave the brightness on medium 95% of the time. If for some reason I can't touch the watch with my free hand I can always bounce it off my face :)

  • The lower brightness level works for me all the time. AOD is a waste of battery. Night mode is great :)

  • Garmin Edge devices have percentage brightness adjustment. 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and so on. It would be great to have such an adjustment on Epix2
