Solved (User Error) Beware of big change in Stryd Calibration Epix Gen 2??

I upgraded from Vivoactive3 to Epix Gen 2 recently. I moved my Stryd pod to the Epix Gen 2.

With the Vivoactive 3, the Stryd pod was very accurate when measuring distance on a couple of local running tracks. Unlike the Epix Gen 2, there is no option to use or not use the distance and pace from Stryd on that older watch. Stryd takes over these metrics when the Power ConnectIQ field is used and the GPS is turned off.

Howver with the Epix 2. after a few road runs, the auto-calibration found a 104,6% calibration factor. Initially, I dismissed it based on the Stryd knowledge base, set it back to 100% and selected to always use Stryd for distance and pace.

Over the last few days, I noticed that the Stryd distance on the Epix 2 was way off on the track. I would have to run about 20m past the 400m mark to have the watch record 400m. It adds up to almost an additional quarter km for a 5k!.

I recalibrated Stryd manually and got an average of 104.6% calibration factor after mulitple runs of various distances on 2 different tracks (between 4x and 12x400m). So the auto calibration was spot on (a testament to the Epix 2 GPS accuracy in normal running mode).

Speaking of which, the Epix Gen 2 GPS distance is surprisingly accurate in the Track Running Mode (the user manual indicates that at least 3 laps are required for the watch to auto calibrate in this mode).

I was not expecting that Stryd accuracy would be watch dependent! Did anyone else observe this?
