So, here is an interesting story that most of you will find odd and/or somewhat amusing.
It Shipped Immediately
I purchased my Epix Gen 2 (Epix 2) on 25 January. The retailer - a well-known running specialty store - shipped it on the same day and I received confirmation from both FedEx and the retailer that the watch had shipped on 25 January. The watch traveled from South Carolina to Texas and made it to my door on the afternoon of 27 January. I promptly opened the brand-new sealed box, connected my Epix 2 to Garmin Express, updated the firmware, and put it on. Everything has functioned as expected.
Missing Historical Data
HOWEVER, I began to notice that Intensity Minutes and Body Battery history were not showing up in Garmin Connect (Android phone). I could not figure out the problem. Then I got in contact with Garmin Support today and explained the situation.
Previous Owner of Sealed New Watch?
Two separate representatives (I called twice to make sure) told me the same thing: According to what they were seeing on their screen, my Epix 2 had a previous owner. How this person managed to keep the watch sealed as new with no signs of wear anywhere (screen protective film, strap, box seals, etc.) is a mystery to me.
Previous Owner Registered Same Day I Received Watch
Furthermore, according to them, the watch was originally registered by that "first" owner on 27 January - the very day that I registered the watch after being delivered by FedEx.
Lastly, I looked into my Garmin Connect and the problem only began to surface on 18 February - there is no historical data for Intensity Minutes and Body Battery (or steps, or stairs, for that matter) after 18 February. Everything is there for the days between 27 January (when I first put on the watch) and 17 February. It shows me what I have done today, but by tomorrow, it will not show it in the history and so on. This is odd because I wore the watch with no issues regarding the data for more than two weeks before this issue surfaced.
Does Not Add Up
A few things do not make sense. There is no way a previous owner registered the watch the same day FedEx delivered it all the way from South Carolina, and still keep it in "new" condition in a sealed box. Also, if a previous registered user existed, why did the problem only begin nearly 20 days after I had already used the watch? None of this makes sense. I asked the customer service rep if he was sure that the other user was not some other email of mine (maybe I had another Garmin account since I've used Garmins for years now), and he stated, "No. Definitely another person entirely." Very odd.
