Does Garmin have any maps that cover Pakistan?

I'll be in Karachi for a couple of weeks and plan to do some cycling and running. But can't find any of the available maps via Garmin Express that cover Pakistan. I mainly need it to navigate back home or explore popular routes. Anyone?

Thanks.

  • I am sorry, our TopoActive MENA map you can download free to your watch does not include Pakistan. We do not have a map for Pakistan across all of our additional map products.

  • I could create an OSM based map of Pakistan from this source http://download.geofabrik.de//asia/pakistan.html

Tell me if you really need this.

  • That would be brilliant!! And I'd be eternally in your debt. I have seen mention of OpenStreetMap maps but lack the skills to convert it to garmin format and/or add to my watch/bike computer. Also all sorts of links online on OpenStreetMap maps, some are one country, some are more, some have some kind of data and others other kind of data, like streets, topographic info etc. But if this is the right kind of map, I'd really like to add it to my Garmin devices.

    Thanks.

  • Ok, try the link below.

There is very very little data available from OSM, looks like only main roads and streets in places are in the map, the map is also without elevation data.

English labels are not available for all objects, so some gibberish is displayed.

I could generate elevation data for contour lines, but that takes a long time, since I have to completely calculate the main contour map.

But DEM elevation data are there.

In this case you should use:  epix_default_Freizeitkarte_PAK_en_img.zip

You can use the .exe file for Bascecamp

What a fantastic support you give, kudos!!

Guess that is the reson why there isn't any map from Garmin, to little data to create a map that Garmin can stand behind.

  • Thank you so much. It is better than nothing. Hopefully data quality will improve over time as users in Pakistan contribute more data.

  • I hope you secured the map, because I have terminated the map project.

Users should rather leave their money elsewhere - just not with Garmin - where they get garbage for a lot of money and where problems and bugs are ignored.

  • Post is about a year old at this point. I also, went on a journey trying to find the maps (best) for Pakistan. Finally landed on talky toaster maps. I am using Epix (gen 2) and Pakistan HD Pro Maps. They are amazing and a pleasure to use on Margalla Hills, both for trail running as well as cycling. And I believe only on Epix, you can see 3D elevation mapping. On MIPS, you cannot really make out 3D nature of mountains/hills

  • Hi - how did you go about getting this? Just got the watch so no idea. TIA.

  • What do you recommend?
