Black Titanium - already multiple scuff marks on bezel?

Hi all,

I used to own the Fenix 6 Saphire which had DLC-coating on its bezel. Over 2 years, I didn't get a single scuff mark on it. I now have the black titanium Epix 2 and within 2 days I had my first scuff mark on the bezel at the 1 o'clock position. I don't remember me hitting anything, however I have been working out with the watch already.

Does anyone know if the black titanium has DLC coating? I always assumed it would, however I'm noticing that the Fenix 7 specifically mentions DLC-coating as opposed to the Epix 2.

Anyone else with scuff marks this soon? In other words: Do I need to accept this or send it back to Garmin? Your advice would be much appreciated.

It had the Carbon Grey DLC

So annoying I have a couple of marks on my bezel both near the outside edge.

The coating seems thin on this version of the watch.

Don't remember knocking it and don't use it for impact sports.

I know some people will say its a sports watch blah blah blah but it's more expensive than previous versions but seems easier to mark up.

Yes and it got replaced by Garmin. However, it took very long to get the replacement due to the supply chain issues worldwide

Makes sense as DLC is a coating that should only be scratched if actual material of the titanium is shed off.

Think of getting a epix 2 pro black dlc.

Would be good to understand if your replacement device was of better quality then. How did it hold up?

Welcome to the club! I got my Epix non-pro on the day it came out, almost two years ago. After maybe 6 months or a year I slammed it on the side of something and got a major scuff mark right on the bezel 'face.' It wasn't actually the titanium, but the DLC coating that got the gouge/nick. No way to fix it without runing the coating around the mark. And actually, the stainless steel versions are easier to buff out and less noticeable vs the titanium black ones.

I use my garmin for sports. Couldn't care less how many blemishes it in has. There are much better watches to wear on a night out!
