Music Player freezes the watch with around 300 songs per folder / playlist / genre

Thanks for testing. I've been seeing the same symptoms on my Epix 2, with about 1000 songs loaded into 400+ subdirectories, and it would consistently hang on the "Now Playing" or "Play All Songs" menu. They were loaded using Garmin Express which gave no warning, so I didn't think that the number would be an issue. 

did some further testing:

the number of files per folder don't seem to be part of the problem. Directories with 300+ files work, as long as the are 'seperated' by playlists and/or genres. It is solely dependant on the number of entries per playlist or genre.

I changed the 'genre-tag' of half of the files of one folder (167 files w/genre '80s-A' plus 167 files w/genre '80s-B') and both 'genres' play fine and all stays very responsive (selection and playback work almost instantly)

Still it's pretty inconvenient having first to 'random sort' the files and then 're-tag' half of them... so please fix the music player asap.

Btw. about six years ago (fenix 3) I noted in the forum that playback of m4b-audiobooks (single-file) with integrated chapters won't 'allow' skipping chapters... as this still isn't possible how about getting this working as well? :-)

Thanks for the update. I had seen a similar issue with both my 945 and 945 LTE, and have since kept my playlist sizes smaller (<130 songs) on my epix. I have seen my epix getting more glitchy as the size of my playlists have increased. I now have 3 playlists 35, 40 & 125 songs. I thought it was library size until I saw your post. I have also seen an issue where the watch will freeze for about 30-60 seconds in the middle of an activity when playing music. It drops all the connected devices (headphones and sensors, and they have to be re-connected once the watch un-freezes. My 945s would also not synch with Garmin connect as the library's got large. I have not tried library's as large as yours on the epix yet.

I've experienced such a 'BT device disconnect' also once during the last few activity sessions... let's see if version 7.35 brings any improvements in that area...

I see no difference in behavoiur from the 7.35 firmware on my issues.

I have 850 songs on the EPIX organized in playlists. 2 Playlists contain > 250 songs. It takes a while until such a playlist is loaded and only the first 2 songs fom these big playlists are listet. Swiping on the touchscreen doesn't list any more songs. If I use the button to scroll down then all songs are suddenly listed . From the on I can also use the touchscreen to scroll. Apart from that glitch, nothing freezes.

I tested 260: working
with 300 songs: freeze

254 and 467. Nothing freezes

Same issue on Fenix 7XSS with 280 songs in playlist. Only hard reboot helps. Was working fine on Fenix 6X as well.

Still the freeze that needs a reboot when using "now playing" on Epix 2 FW 9.36
