Why do we need 2 apps to use the Epix 2

Why do we need 2 apps to use the Epix 2 - the Connect App and the Connect IQ app? I wanted Spotify, and to use that I needed to get the Connect IQ app. And, even after installing both these apps, some important settings are still only on the watch, particularly for me, the watch face. You can only modify it from the watch.

It would be so much better if everything was consolidated into one app, and as many controls as possible could be tuned from the app.

On a related note, how do we make feature requests? Is there a channel for that? Or, do we just post them here?

  • Correction; The *ConnectIQ* watch faces can be configured from ConnectIQ, agree it is odd it can't be changed from the Connect App.

  • Do you have an iPhone? If so you use multiple apps on that device, to manage it - Settings App, App Store app, etc (I assume the same on Android, with Google Play app and likely a Settings app on the phone). Aren't there more critical things that Garmin needs to focus on, than this?

If I recall a few years back, there was no separate Connect IQ app store, and when Garmin came out with the IQ app store, it was generally very well received. So - not sure Garmin is going to work on this. Have a great day!

  • Because the content of the two apps is enormous to be placed in one app. Their approach is correct. Your topic is like saying why Facebook does not contain chat and main app and pages app in one application and it uses 3 different apps.

I am an app designer and programmer and I assure you that having two apps is better in cases like this.

  • If the experts think that way, probably you are right. Personally though, I'm not convinced. I can understand one app to control one external device, not multiple apps.

  • Note that if you were into traditional Garmin mapping, you'd also be using the Garmin Explore app to sync your tracking data with the watch.

And of course there is Garmin Express on PC which is yet another totally different application from Connect / Connect IQ / Explore.

  • Is there a method other than Garmin Explore for getting individual 'Saved Locations' into the Watch easily? (other than going to the place itself and doing a 'Save Location'...?

  • As far as I know, from Garmin, it's either on the watch or through Explore.

It looks like there is at least one Connect IQ app "Send Points" that tries to provide another route, but it's not as easy to use as just using Explore (especially considering that through Explore app sync, you get all the power of the Explore web interface).

  • This is just wrong. it is inherently user unfriendly to require multiple apps to properly do one activity. if its a garmin product it should require 1 garmin app. Sure you can trim download size by not installing certain modules untill a user needs them.
