How to see next calendar event on Epix 2 watch face?

I just got my Epix 2. Excited about the display and sensors. Love the live updates of heart rate and steps. But I am missing the simple widgets from the Apple Watch 4 - in particular - next calendar event, stopwatch. I also found it very convenient to just tap the Spotify icon on the screen and see my playlists. It would be nice to be able to place these widgets in the data fields.

Also, the data fields on the watch face do not appear to be interactive - e.g. I cannot click the heart rate field to see the heart rate history

  • For the next meeting, it won’t tell you the details on the screen but the data field choice is the one with an icon like a calendar and the time of your next appointment.

There is not a stopwatch or music option for the complications but you can setup a hot key shortcut for these. Music is already the default for holding the Down key, and I personally set clocks (which lets you set alarms, timers, and the stopwatch) to holding the Start key.

For the interaction, you need to hold your finger for a moment on the complication to bring you to the details.

  • Thanks very much, The thing is, the calendar is a glance, and you cannot place it on the watch face, You have to swipe down to bring up the glances to see the calendar. This is one additional step that I should not have to make - if I could place the calendar glance on say, the battery charge spot on the data-rich hexagon watch face. I could then see the next event title just by glancing at the watch.

Also right now, you cannot interact with data fields on the watch face. You have to swipe down to bring up the glances, and then the glances are interactive. In general, it should be possible to place glances on data field spots, and get the interactive glance behavior directly from the watch face.

Thanks very much for the tip to set "hold start key" as the timer shortcut. Will try that. But I would greatly prefer being able to get the timer as a glance. I use it all the time around the house to remind me to turn things off, on etc.

  • Have you updated the firmware after you got the watch? Because I can from my watch face access pulse, body battery, battery, training status and sun up/down just by holding my finger on them

  • You are mentioning the “hexagon watch face”.  I assume that you are referring to one of the ConnectIQ watch faces and not one of the built in ones.  In that case, you will have to ask the developer about adding the functionality that you are talking about, but understand that these faces are much more limited in what features the developer can access compared to the built-in faces.

This built-in watch face does what I am talking about.  The top complication shows I have an appointment at 9:00.  If I press and hold it, it will open the calendar.  Likewise, if I press and hold on the weather it will open the weather screen, or if I press and hold on the sunset time it will open the sunrise/sunset screen.

  • Thanks, found it - it was tricky because faces cannot be set on the phone app and I had not figured out how to select from the built-in faces using the buttons. But now I have found this exact face and can get the desired behavior. Thanks for the lead.

The hex face is also a Garmin face: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a542d704-fe4c-4f7c-a61a-4daabf4d7f7f

As a newbie, I was deliberately looking for a data-rich face made by Garmin. The hexacurve seemed to fit the bill. But all its data fields are static.

Now that I know that I can get glance behaviors on faces, I can look for faces which give me the desired number of widgets.

  • Thanks, I did this morning. The issue was that Garmin's Hexacurve watch face does not support interactive behavior.

  • It seems like you have this solved, but just for posterity's sake - the default Epix watch faces have the ability to long press and interact with the complications.  Other watch faces you install, even from Garmin, do not have this functionality at this time (maybe in the future?)

  • Indeed, hope Garmin fixes this asap. I love the battery life and the real-time updates to heart rate and steps on my Epix 2. But. this issue alone is constantly tempting me to go back to the trusty Infograph watch face on my Apple Watch 4. I really hope Garmin can get me the Infograph watch face or better capability on my Epix 2 asap.

  • Hi buddy what's this watch face buddy, I just got a Venu 2 plus and desperately looking for calendar event to come to the watch face rather than going through glances
