Just realized there is no longer option to connect Epix/Fenix7 in USB Drive Mode. This was super-useful. Can we have this feature back? MTP is not supported on Mac. But there were other reasons to have raw access to the watch filesystem:

Garmin Express does not require Android File Transfer to work. To have your watch not seen by Garmin Express suggests a more serious issue with your watch.
If cleaning the pins and trying a new cable does not resolve the issue, try a full reset to defaults of your watch.
