I think Stamina is only available for running and biking activities. I think.
My understanding too. Possibly because it's hard to run out of juice while hiking. Even during a marathon, most people last about three hours before hitting the wall, if they do.
Could I cheat and copy a running activity? Then just delete all the running oriented data screens and add hiking specific data screens and be able to then add the stamina screen?
I hike for 5 or more hours in a weekly basis and more often than I like to admit I get very tired 2 or 3 km away from my start/end point. Using Stamina would be really useful to prevent this kind of newbie mistake.
Best way to do this is to copy a regular run activity and then customize it for hiking. You'll get stamina and climb pro and compass and maps and what not. Garmin support told me that's the hack to get stamina for hiking. Good luck!
Hi, thank you for the hack. I designed my own hiking mode coppying trailrunning and customized and renamed it my individual Hiking mode. BUT; I recognized that in GC it is stored with Trailrunning (and this icon as it is in the watch). So on first sight I can not distinguish Hiking from Trialrunning. Maybe that*s not that importent but I'm wondering further if Hiking uses the same alogerithm for all the calculations as e.g. Trailrunning does. Any ideas on this? And basically I can*t understand why Garmin does't give us this imho very useful feature for more activities eg. Hiking, Climbing ...
