Epix Sapphire - Bug report: energy profiles (2bugs)

BUG1

- Create an energy profile with multi-band GPS enabled.

- Choose an activity and try to assing an energy profile. The watch will show the newly crated energy profile like it has only the multi-GNSS mode and not the multi-band GPS mode. (The predicted battery time data is good. Much less than a profile which really has the multi-GNSS GPS mode). Basically under the assigning of the energy profiles under an activity it is impossible to see multi-band GPS mode. Other GPS states are differentiated correctly, but multi-band always shows as multi-GNSS...

BUG2

- Create 2 almost identical energy profiles. One with "always on screen - switch it off". And one with "always on screen mode - don't change".

- Choose an activity and try to assign an energy profile. Even if you try to assign the secondly created profile, the watch doesn't allow it. It will choose the firstly created energy profile.

  • Any reply from Garmin? Did you send them a bug report?

  • If you choose the power mode when you go through the start menu, then yes it doesn't hold - it just seems to do it for that current activity.

If you want to permanently assign a power mode you need to go through the activities and app setting (i.e. menu [left middle long press], scroll to activities and apps, Select activity you want to assign profile, activity settings - power mode. And then select the power mode you want. It will now hold that power mode for all future activities.

I am not sure if it is a bug or designed that way on purpose. I can see the point of doing it this way in that perhaps you only want a temporary power mode change so set it via start and current activity. Makes sense and I  do believe it is by design and is not a bug.

The bad news is that AOD off when tracking activities doesn't work with 7.35 - you don't get a black screen, you just get a dimmed one - that to me is a bug. But you can easily confirm that your power mode is now always assigned to that activity. Press start - select activity (and or put cursor against activity and press menu button to get activity settings) - menu (single press left middle or up as it otherwise known as) - power mode: you should now seen the assigned power mode that you wanted.

This does not match my experience.  I have created several custom Power Modes but, when I go to apply them (either "permanently" via the method described above, or on an ostensibly ad hoc basis when starting an activity), only the default Power Modes are able to be applied.  I can use none of my custom-created Power Modes, which sort of defeats the whole purpose of them.  This is on an Epix 2 running 7.35.

I can confirm that. Strangely enough I can assign only three own created power modes, but if I have more created, it will assign always the 3rd one. Really strange.

    I‘m running Beta V8.15

  • I only made one energy profile, one that turn off AOD.

It been working perfectly so far, both activating and deactivating as it should.

  • It’s strange. In a custom Power Mode if I modified the GPS settings it would not allow itself to be applied to an Activity. But, if I changed the AOD setting only, it would take. And I could later change the GPS setting and it would still take.

But, if I created a second Power Mode in a similar manner it is totally unselectable.

Certainly buggy and hard to nail down what is going on.
