Your epix watchface recommendations

Hi Epix-enthusiasts!

Because I've already seen some nice watchfaces out there I thought it would be nice to share some watchface recommendations that go well with our beautiful watches.

Ideally, the watchfaces have a good AOD mode, too.

For a start, here is my recommendation:

SHN EDO (here with PRO functions enabled)

https://apps.garmin.com/de-DE/apps/dcaedb61-a7b6-4bf1-a336-5a39dab18b2c

And AOD looks like this:

So what watchface do you like and enjoy on the epix?

  • Very nice!

but the store tells me it is not epix compatible!

  • What is your epix software version?

It may be software version related issue.

I also am an EPIX user and got this WF from the store to use!

  • Since this thread just popped up the to top again, I figured I'd share a recent update to 's original point:

I just published 4 AMOLED-only watch faces that all feature this hold-to-open (HTO) functionality.

I'm kind of new here, but I made these watch faces for myself at first.  I just got an Epix, and I didn't find a lot of watch faces that really took advantage of the AMOLED's capabilities, so I decided to design & build watch faces that are very detailed and use vibrant colors.  Then I had some people ask me to share them, so I set up a small brand to share them.

All of the places where metrics appear on the screen can be tapped & held to open the corresponding app.  (This only works on metrics that have a corresponding app -- like weather, body battery, stress, steps, etc.).

Also, some of my faces have an easter egg: if you tap & hold the center of the screen, it'll rotate through the themes each time you press & hold.

Hope you find some of them worthwhile to add to your collection.

There's even a setting on my watch faces to show you where the tap targets are:

The targets will get circled in green, like this:

  • Myaro,

You have a great set of analogue watchfaces!

But: fields in many of them cannot show data like recovery time, active minutes, alt time zone, vo2max etc. Other developers have the same. Is there some restriction from Garmin on what fields can be used or some other practical issue? Why can’t we set any data-field to show any data?

  • Hi, ,

    Thank you for the compliments!

Most of those metrics you listed are actually available now. I just added them 3 days ago.  Now 34 metrics are available as part of the LuxeLion Data Module D6, which all my watches share.  You can see the full list here of what's now supported and what's coming soon.  And here's how to update your watch face.  If you'd like more time on the 5-day trial, just uninstall and reinstall.

Garmin's APIs are very useful, but they don't put all these metrics on a "silver platter" for developers to use.  Each metric is a project - ranging from a few minutes to a few hours.  For example, it took me a few hours to find & build the calculations for the moon phase -- Garmin doesn't provide that, so I had to do math based on the day of the year and the angles of the planets.

And for every metric I add, I create a custom icon.  That's a special project each time.

And I also define certain properties so they can show up in the dials:

    1. Minimum value
    2. Maximum value
    3. "Ranges" (e.g. warning zone, target zone) -- only on certain watches that support this, like Coquette and Obey

I'm new here, so I'm adding metrics as quickly as I can get to them (while also building new watch faces).  There are still a few more I'm really excited to add soon, like alternate time zone, week number, and icons/indicators for things like bluetooth, alarm, and notifications. It's a lot of fun!

What metrics don't I have yet that you're most interested in?

  • Thank you for the insight!

I am looking for one that looks in this kind of style:

But has fields (data, not looks) similar to this:

    (both are Garmin faces)

  • GAT Carrera looks superb, but lacks many of the fields I need.

  • , which ones do you need?

Yeah, this wasn't my first instinct. I'm not a subscription fan. But I had enough users request this option that I decided to add it. And judging by the split between customers buying them outright vs. subscribing, it was apparently a good move - people seem to like this option.
