Epix Gen 2 huge distance errors

2 of the 4 runs I've recorded have had the distance recorded with huge errors e.g. last night it recorded that I'd ran over 9000 miles.

I think this may be related to altitude being miscalculated for a short period of time.

Garmin chat support were not helpful. They simply suggested a GPS soak, where I'm supposed to leave the watch for 5 to 10 minutes once its acquired its GPS signal.

I do not live in a built up area and have never had issues with my other Garmin watches. My Forerunner 935 is fine.

This happened with firmware version 6.55. I've now updated to 7.2.

Does anyone know what could cause this and is anyone having similar issues?

See what happens with 7.20. The only thing people have posted about GPS is how good it is, which would suggest yours is an anomaly. Post the activity fit files then someone can look at them and might be able to identify what might have gone wrong.

I would not judge performance until you have used it with Software Version 7.20. It has generally been reported that the watch has several performance anomalies when used with the software the watch shipped with.

As requested before, post activity fit files so that someone can look at them. It’s never enough to simply say “I have the same issue”. You might have a similar outcome but the problem could be different.

I chatted with Support. They got into my account. Told me GPS not working on activities. They had me redownload 7.24 and delete several folders from my device via windows explorer. Seems ok on initial tests but will know after I do more activities.

I don't have the full chat but I do remember the following folders. Activity, Segments, SUMMARY, Workouts and .bak files. There were more but like I said I don't remember which.
