Do you mean that you get longer battery life than advertised for the always on display?

Also .. Can you set the overall brightness of the display. What I mean is that it will be lower or higher relative to the ambient light. You know .. like you can do on phones.

AMOLED displays will use less power when more of the screen is black, because the pixels are actually turned off in that area.

Thats why the Epix watch faces and data sceens are mainly a colored text but with black background, to conserve battery life.

Yes, there is an ambient light sensor.

I set the brightness to Low out of Low, Medium and High, again to conserve battery, Low is already bright enough for me, especially indoors.

If I am outside or where there is more light, the screen will actually brighten automatically to make it easier to read, and it works well.

1 GPS activity (Set to GPS only, not All Systems) and 1 indoor activity per day

and after a second charge to 100%

I am averaging about 9 to 10% battery used per day

I wonder why Garmin doesn't use an ambient light sensor on Fenix 7 series too. That would actually make a lot of sense to automatically adjust the backlight in low light situations. Suunto 9 Peak does that.

Money saving. Even the old Vivoactive HR had an ambient light sensor.

In fairness, they probably also decided that the span between darkness and semi-darkness warrants the same display brightness.
