Brightness at night

Received my Epix2 and its great.

I have set my screen to the minimum brightness, AOD is on and turned off wrist gesture to save some battery. However, at night when in dark room or outside the screen is still very bright. Is there a way to turn down the brightness even further when say the sun sets and before sleep mode kicks in??

Agreed, it's too bright at night. Funnily enough, they give you 4 brightness settings on the 'sleep' mode but only 3 settings on the 'general use' mode. Why isn't the 4th setting (ultra dim) available…

Yes, I disagree with others here and think it is ideal at night. I have the brightness set to the lowest setting, do not disturb on and timeout after 4 sec. I have touch off and battery saver at normal…

Do you mean Sleep Mode? But then AOD doesn't work.

Hm, thats possible, i didnt like the sleep/night display, so i turned it off without playing arround,

I like Sleep Mode, but the screen is simply too bright in a dark room or outside at night. Seems a waste of power at it's just not needed.

What is night display?

i mean the reduced display while sleep-time. Maybe we mean the same, i dont use the watch in english language so maybe sleep display is what i call night display

Those are the exact same questions I have.

I'm still deciding between the F7 and Epix.

While I think that during the day the AMOLED screen will be great, at night I would hate to walk around with the watch always glowing on my wrist.

How bright is the watch with always on display at night?
Is there a setting to turn the display off after sunset? Judging by your questions, there isn't.

If I set the display to off and disable gestures I believe I can get it to turn on by pressing a key or tapping the display, is that correct? So one way is to turn off AOD, which is a shame, as I would like to use it during the day.

As a workaround I'm guessing I can use the always on display during the day and then use the sleep mode during the evening. The issue is I would have to change the schedule often to account for sunrise and sunset. The second issue is I believe the do not disturb is also set in sleep mode and can't be set independently?

Any tips or suggestions on what my options are? This will probably be the deciding factor between these two watches.

As for the light, the Fenix is worse, its backlight turns on with every arm movement. Since I find my EPIX compared to my Fenix but much nicer, because there shine only the pixels that indicate something, instead of the "soup" in my Fenix.

Currently I have a 945 and have the backlight set to off. So whenever I need it, I just press a button. I works really well. Of course the display is MIP, so always on.

You are saying only the active pixels light up on the Epix? The black stays black or does it still have some backlight?

it is oled display so i thing black is black. Totally. When oled is glowing there is more battery drain. That is why you prefer black background on oled and white on MIP.

My question is, does EPIXgen2 has light intensity sensor? It would be nice to dim it at dark places and max out on bright outdoor activites.

I am not sure it does. With the screen on put it in your pocket and the screen remains on. Seems silly.
