Where do you get quick release pins?
The Quick release band pins are designed for the Fenix 6 series and earlier. If you place these on the current models, including the Epix gen 2. these…
I've managed to remove mine using boxcutter/stanley knife. I found holding the watch upright in one hand and applying some downwards pressure to the pin (with thumb) whilst using the blade to pull…
Just wanted to leave a big thank you! With the box cutter it was really easy! It took maybe twenty seconds per pin! Now enjoying my Nick Mankey band

Apparently there is an innovative new design to the 22mm springbars on the MARQ Gen 2 watches that makes them easily removable.
Here's…
FWIW, that was what I tried first, using a retractable utility blade, but I was unable to get enough friction between the blade and the pin. I agree that the gap you see from the video does appear to be larger than the ones on my epix 2.
I believe the person using the knife did apply light pressure to the cylinder while he was pushing the pin inwards toward the middle so it creates friction to hold the pin from going back into the watch lug hole.
I find it much easier to put the watch face down, then using the tool to push the pin in the same fashion the video was doing while holding the cylinder down. It does work after 2-3 prying, assuming you are putting enough pressure on the cylinder to prevent the end from going back into the watch.
I've managed to remove mine using boxcutter/stanley knife. I found holding the watch upright in one hand and applying some downwards pressure to the pin (with thumb) whilst using the blade to pull back worked a treat. Took around 3-4 'pull backs' with the blade before it popped out.
+1
make sure you use a new blade in the box cutter. It helps with getting a grip on the pin when pulling it back. 3-4 pull backs like clockwork.

Same here ! :-)
A boxcutter and some patience and the Nick Mankey's are back in business. :-)
I removed mine using a normal pin removal tool, without damaging anything. I replaced them with quick release pins

Here's a pic showing the new "windows" on each end of the springbars that allow for the use of a standard springbar tool to remove them:
I have not seen this "window" design feature on springbars before. Was it on the first generation MARQ watches?
These new springbars would probably work on the Epix Gen 2 watches as well, but I do not see them as available yet from Garmin as a "Replacement Part."
Just FYI - I thought this was a noteworthy product improvement from Garmin.
HTH
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Never seen that kind of design either and certainly a welcome improvement on the brain dead design of the Epix 2 springbars.
PS - nice to you here ;-)
Aren’t those the same as on the 1st gen Marq?
