Yup, the black one is, indeed, DLC coated. Looks very much like the finish on the Tactix Delta I had briefly.

Thank you. Lets hope it holds up like my 6 Pro which is tough as nails.

From their webpage:
"BEZEL MATERIAL: passivated stainless steel, Sapphire Edition: carbon gray DLC titanium or pure titanium"
Hope this helps.
The one in DC Rainmaker's latest video definitely looks more dark gray than black (which is good in my opinion):

I like the look of the Slate Steel, but i dont think it has DLC though.
But isnt steel harder than titanium? So should hold up better?
Sure its also heavier but its still lighter than the 6X I have now.
Any scratches on it would be less visible too being a light colour.
Only problem is it only comes with 16GB, which I think would be enough for Australia and US at least.
Decisions, decisions ...
Having briefly owned the Tactix Delta, which had DLC, the Epix 2 bezel feels exactly the same. I am pretty sure it has DLC too.
It's titanium material with DL Coating
Yes, as a general rule, Ti is not as hard as steel used in watches. However the DLC coating improves the resistance to scratches vs. an untreated metal. With that said, DLC Ti should wear better than bare steel. DLC however is not scratch proof and is difficult and fairly expensive to reapply. Maybe that’s changing since DLC is used in so many applications now, IDK. FWIW, I own several watches, knives, and firearms which have been treated with DLC and none have scratches on them.
I think the steel version also doesn’t include the sapphire crystal, which IMHO is important for durability/ long term legibility of the watch face.
Good points, I may just go for the Black Titanium then
The color really depends on the light. It's a brushed surface, and fairly reflective, it can look fairly light grey when the light is hitting it right, but if you turn your wrist it will suddenly look nearly black.
FWIW, I dislike DLC because even though it's scratch resistant, it still can scratch, and when it does, it looks utterly terrible. You get bright silver lines contrasted against the carbon grey finish. Titanium, on the other hand, looks fine when it scratches, and over time, the scratches will oxidize, making them even less noticeable.
