I was owner and user of EPIX and Fenix 5 and 6. On these watches so called Custom Maps (KMZ format) can be applied. For Custom Maps see: support.garmin.com/.../ .
My question: Do the new EPIX 2 and Fenix 7 solar watches also work with Custom Maps?

Currently, it seems to not work on the EPIX. I added a .kmz file in the Garmin/CustomMaps folder on the device. However, the map is not available in the Mapmanager to be selected (neither on the device nor via Garmin Connect). This seems to be a bug as I would expect the EPIX to handle Custom Maps
Most items need to be put into the folder „NewItems“ or „NewFiled“, not exactly sure hoeing is named. From there the watch will import it. Did you try that?
Tried it but still the map is not selectable, neither on the watch nor via the connect app
Ohh, no.
Tested on my epix now and the maps are selectable in configure maps, but I didnt see them on the map. I need more testing to see if the are hiding behind my other map.
I have produced years ago some .KMZ files (raster from satellites views) for my F5X, and it’s works fine with My Epix Gen 2 :-)
Yes, I tested some more and it's working for me too, but I need to zoom in to scale=50m on e2. With my f6x I get the same custom map visible with scale=300m.
You also have to restart the watch once. Bootup is the time were it scans for new Maps etc.
restart the watch
No, I don't need that. It also scan for new maps when disconnect from pc.
Maybe it's depending on on pixel resolution, but when I tested another map today while running it was visible with scale 120m.
Now it also works on my side. Probably my first map was too big. Now I have map tiles with less than 1000 pixels
