I have a heart issue, and the LTE/ECG combo would have been extremely nice…
So the big question I guess is then will Garmin ever deliver a full blown Felix/Epix/Marq2 or whatever that will accommodate both?

That would have put Epix2 on the same functional level as Apple Watch/Samsung Watch, along with better battery life and great maps. I would have had no hesitation (despite the huge price hit) to jump from…
Imagine what battery life would have been like on the Epix 2 if it had cellular...probably 2-3 days at best. No thanks!
It would be nice to at least have the ability to take calls on it, using your phone. For when the cell phone is hard to reach, when you are on a bike etc.

Well, I'm more into the implementation that they are using on 945 LTE. Seems like there is hardly any hit at at all (The 945 LTE even has better battery life than the 945)

Right. The thing to remember is that the LTE draws no power unless the watch is actually using the connection. So it's off whenever your watch is connected to your phone. If you use livetracking without your phone, it's on during your activity, but that's only a few hours/day max. If you don't use livetracking, then it's only on when you upload your workout (takes seconds) or when you call of emergency aid (hopefully never).
I'm in the same boat. Once they get around to adding LTE/ECG to Epix/Fenix it will be the perfect watch. As it is I might have to keep my Galaxy Watch 4 a little longer. Bummer! Was hoping to go down to only one watch!
Gotta factor in the cost of time. It will probably be two years before another major update. That means two years before LTE/ECG. The latter is no big deal if you do not have AF and are not too old. And the current Garmin LTE (not on fenix or epix) is not perfect enuf, ie., it doesn't allow phone calling/responding due to lack of a microphone. So for me it comes down to eating those losses (and no access to Garmin Pay) vs far superior battery life and great mapping/navigation capability. I'll probably upgrade from my F6S Pro in a few months.
I don't have AF, yet, but I do have pvcs and psvt. Sometimes they are exacerbated by exercise, so I have to keep an eye on my hr. I am ordering the Epix and keeping the Galaxy 4.
I'd like to hear your comparison of the two after you get your Epix
Upgrade to Fenix 7/7X or Epix2?
Also Garmin sometimes release a minor upgrade within the 2 year cycle.
Eg Fenix 6 then about 6 months later Fenix 6 Solar.
In 6 months or a year they could release:
Epix 2X Solar (Oooo that would be nice)
Fenix 7 LTE
