climb activity missing

Hello,  My Enduro 3 is missing the Climb activity.  It has a Climb Indoor, but the manual lists a Climb activity for outdoor climbing as well.

  • Hi Alistair!

I checked and I can't find outdoor climbing activity either on my Enduro 3. However there is "Mountaineering". I guess you can copy that activity and rename it to "Outdoor climbing" or just "Climbing".

I see "Climbing" in the "Outdoor recreation" section of the specs part on the Garmin website, but they don't mention "Mountaineering". In the online manual, I do see "Mountaineering", but "Climbing" is missing in the outdoor section. So maybe they are supposed to be the same thing?

Indoor bouldering has some special functionality for laps with rests, I don't see anything special for Mountaineering. Anybody knows if older watches have something special for climbing/mountaineering, or it's just a generic copy of the hiking activity with a few different data screens as default?

  • As far as I know no garmin watch supports outdoor climbing activity. Some people tracks it with indoor climbing. Climbers who wants to track it use Coros. Mountaineering in general could be considered close to outdoor climbing, BUT Garmin's definition of mountaineering is "hiking in mountains". I use it for hiking in mountains since it seems to me to it better evaluate speed in steep terrain. Even though I still has ridiculous readings like vertical speed 1000 m/h and simultaneously (3D / non 3D) speed 0 km/h. (Garmin's "hiking" is more like "walking in very good terrain with low elevation gains", and walking is mainly "city walk in park").

  • The Climb activity profile has been renamed to Mountaineering on newer Enduro/Fenix watches, as well as many older models. I've shared your post with the appropriate team on our end to get the online specs updated to reflect this accurately. Thanks for pointing it out!

  • It is not usable to climbing, there has to much more changes that only online specs (and icon which is person with big backpack and trekking poles).
