Blue Triangle after saving a 100 mile ultra

I ran a 100 mile trail race in ultra mode yesterday (GPS Only) and when I crossed the finish line and pressed 'save' I got THE blue triangle. I thought I had lost my race track and analysis but after checking back later the watch seems to have rebooted and some of the stats seem to be correct but some are not.

Is this behaviour normal for a top range garmin? It is very disconcerting as the basic stats are essentail. If I ChatGPT this issue it seems a common problem.

The last issue I had with my Enduro 3  where 'Up Ahead' wasn't working (Ref:30061434K1) I spent quite a bit of time getting information and never heard anything back from Garmin.

I just want a watch that does the basics well with good battery life, some maps and been struggling with the Enduro 3 ..

Is this common on 100 mile+ races

  • Maybe this was part of the reason. My tracklog was rock solid for 159 Km however it went for a wander in the wrong direction for a while. The red line is the actual course which is about 1.5Km. My watch was in Ultra GPS only mode as was testing for a longer race. I wonder if ignoring the 'GPS Only' and going on to 'All Systems' would have made it more accurate and less likely that this wander for 10 to 12 minutes would have happened. If so I would take accuracy over battery every time. When it uploaded to strava I got a 14 sec 1Km PB which made me search for this.

So I don't know if my original blue triangle on save and this is related or if I actually had two significant issues with the watch on this run.

Definitely not giving me much confidence in the watch for my next long race or maybe this is what I should expect.
