High Contrast setting changes trail colour from red to very pale grey

It renders the high contrast theme unusable for trail running and is a different behaviour from F7/Pro. Not sure what happened or how to change it. Right now I'm toggling HC on or off depending on where I am but it is a PITA and is, to my mind, unnecessary. Any thoughts?

Word is that previous fenix models had editable map theme files. On the E3 this is no longer true.

Cheers!

  • You could probably still edit the themes on the computer, but there is hardly any information about that. You cannot add a new theme like it was possible before, but it should be possible to copy the theme file from the watch to a computer, modify it, and copy it back. I recall someone mentioned doing that. The theme file itself is text based and requires just a basic text editor to make changes. If you search Fenix 6 and Fenix 7 forms there is some information about it. You if decide to change any of these files, make sure to make a backup copy first, so that you can restore it later if something goes wrong.

  • Hi,

Unfortunately the theme files are not accessible on the enduro 3.

Also, I was wrong about the fenix 7 pro -- there, the high contrast setting doesn't appear to do anything. Strange.

It would be great to be able to tweak the boldness of different objects and colours, however, and I hope the engineers add it as a feature.

  • If you really need it, maybe try creating a shortcut or setting up a quick toggle action to switch it easier while on the go? Not a perfect solution, but could save some hassle.

  • I say that you can still change those things you mentioned using an OSM map with your own .typ file and create an .img for yourself on a PC then upload it to your watch.

Custom themes are on the other hand the only way to modify the width and colours of course line, course arrow, route line, route arrow, (“vehicle”) position triangle and virtual partner triangle.

Note: width can be modified only playing with the border colour of the arrows and the triangles, but not the lines (that is to make it transparent or the same)
