Work around for activity specific backlighting

Found this on Reddit - set backlight to the way you want for indoor activities at the focus level. Then for your outdoor activities assign a special power mode with the backlight off. I confirmed that this works but the backlight will now be totally off unless you press the light button so you will be basically 100% dependent on your head torch for seeing the screen,

So overall this makes the screen very nice - in sun the MIP is highly visible, in darkness one can see the screen well with one’s head torch and the backlight can be be turned on and off as needed with the light button. For indoor activities, the backlight can be held on for the entire duration if needed by disabling timeout - no auto dimming, no gesture needed, no danger of pixel burn.

There is no perfect workaround, this just isn't working. Autobacklight based on environment brightness would kind of help though.

Agreed - this needs a proper solution from Garmin but for me it’s good enough for now.
